Program Director
(Part-Time 2:30pm-7:30pm)
Position Summary
Nurturing Minds Child Care is seeking a passionate, mission driven team-builder to fill the role of After School Program Director. In your role, you will have overall accountability for the growth, quality and success of the after school program operation, its students, and staff. The primary responsibility of the Program Director is to manage the day-to-day operations. You will foster an atmosphere of fun and socialization; utilizing a broad range of video and board game related activities where the concept of communication, teamwork, fair play and sportsmanship can flourish and serve as a role model to youth. The Program Director will supervise all program staff and report directly to upper management.
Responsibilities & Duties

Oversees program staff, program operations, services, and the implementation of programs and/or processes in order to provide services within established timeframes and in compliance

Provides weekly and monthly team meetings that encourage opportunities for team feedback and discussions about classroom management, lesson planning, and social emotional learning

Communicates regularly with upper management on program updates, progress, and needs

Accountable for program equipment, as well as ensuring staff members and students respect all equipment

Seek and partner with local food vendors to establish an anti-food waste initiative to ensure dinner is provided to students daily

Coordinates outreach to the community and presents on the program with the goal of actively recruiting participants

Prepares a variety of documents and reports (e.g. attendance, daily activities, daily program content and program design, etc) for the purpose of internal and external reporting

Provides weekly individual supervision to each staff member with feedback, goal setting, and assessment of competencies in the role.

Supports all team members, including in-direct reports and provides feedback as needed

Collaborates with upper management to develop and implement monthly all staff professional development workshops/seminars

Collaborate with upper management on program delivery to align with goals in relation to student achievement and performance

Monitors and ensures all program compliance, including but not limited to, student registration, staff documents, ratios, attendance tracking, IDs

Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the center and programs
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required with preference in Education, Psychology, or Social Work or equivalent experience in urban education, youth development or community organizing with at least one (1) year of supervisory experience

At least 18.0 credit hours from an accredited college or university in the field of Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation or a related field preferred

Ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, manage priorities and workflow, while maintaining a positive, patient and calm demeanor, and establishing a positive team spirit with staff, students, and entire school community

Strong understanding of New York State education requirements in an urban setting

Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with proven ability to interact with a diverse range of individuals both in person, virtually and over the phone, applying tact and discretion as situations demand

Must be able to articulate outcome requirements and provide the necessary and appropriate resources and support for school and New York Edge staff members to successfully deliver on objectives

Knowledge of after-school programs, supervising staff, and program planning.

Ability to work independently, assess priorities, take initiative, handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines

Pay Rate
$25 an hour
